Psalm 121

"I lift up my eyes to the hills. where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip. he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you - the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore."

This Psalm is particularly meaningful for me because it is what I comfort myself with every time I fly. With each take-off and landing, I meditate on these verses (I'm not crazy about flying, it makes me nervous, but I know I will be doing it the rest of my life so I have to have some practical way to deal with it!:)). Thinking about these verses reminds me that God is in control and that He watches over my "coming and going". My best friend framed this passage and gave it to me when I left for the Czech Republic several years ago. It sits on our windowsill with a collection of angel figurines as a constant reminder of God's protection and sovereignty over my life. He will give His angels charge over me.
