Do you notice when Jesus asked Peter, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?" (v 31). Peter had no answer. Jesus had just saved Peter from drowning, but the wind came along, Peter became frightened, taking his focus off Jesus. Isn't that what we do when our circumstances come along? Our circumstances become "the wind". We focus on the circumstances and we sink. Peter didn't answer Jesus when he asked "Why do you doubt?" I think that is a good question to which there is no good answer. But it sure gives me something to think about you? When we focus on our circumstances nothing is accomplished, we just sink down even deeper. Jesus wants our undivided attention, our FOCUS on HIM, just as he wanted Peter's full attention. He wants to keep us from drowning!
